“ ...Ráchel Jutka’ s installation Step Carefully, Yet Boldly opens up a space for a contemplative pause in the present moment. It encourages an awareness of the whole as well as the subtler details that often elude us amidst the overwhelming flood of digital imagery. The title itself embodies a paradox—calling for action that is both bold and cautious. This contradictory symbolic dimension takes physical form in steel equestrian objects (such as stirrups or horse leads). Jutka alludes to a process wherein the rider places their trust not only in the equipment but, above all, in the horse and the bond developing between them. By analogy, in certain life situations, we act with regard for our own safety and peace of mind, yet we also require the courage to step into the unknown. However, there is an additional layer of meaning here, extending this logic to the experience of social media users.
We gradually share fragments of our lives and privacy online—an act requiring a similar measure of courage—yet, paradoxically, this process carries the risk of information misuse, unwanted visibility, and even danger. Through abstract expression, the artist articulates fragments of her own experience as a member of Generation Y—a generation that came of age in the era of digital technologies…
