“At first glance, Ráchel Jutka's paintings and objects are created out of lightness: blending and combining painting matter and material - this blending sometimes copies and sometimes is actually caused by the process of washing with water, dye and ink. Water appears regularly in her works - not only in the process, but also in the content and expression of her paintings and cyanotypes.

What is at first glance a simple, strongly aesthetic painting and creative process is the result of observation and research - flowing water, washing, dripping and drying, but also the character of the canvas, the substrate and the pigments. And although a passionate painter-technologist would gladly draw attention to the material and processual quality of her canvases, Ráchel Jutka's works, even though abstract, are not without broader meanings.

Self-presentation on social media sometimes represents a kind of second skin, a mask, an ever-changing, malleable illusion, in contrast to the imperfect real bodies and personalities hidden behind the profile picture. Ráchel Jutka works with the phenomenon of social networks deliberately ambivalently, using the mysteriousness and appeal of organic abstract painting for the benefit of a wider range of meanings - without obvious moralizing judgments…”

Instagram culture has significantly affected the world of visual arts, where it becomes a communication and presentation tool for artists. The grid of square images on a white background has become a new white cube, but also a space that consciously and subconsciously defines the way of creation. Ráchel notices these mechanisms - sometimes critically, sometimes gently ironically commenting on them - when she deliberately uses the aspect ratio of the Instagram format for her images, or when she assigns one image the role of new profile picture.

The phenomenon of water, flowing, washing - on the one hand evokes a return to nature, to the Zen observation and experience of time and place, but at the same time it refers to the recurring virtual mantra of photographs of relaxing nomads, dipping their feet in the sea, meditating under the summer sun, selling the world often of toxic positivity under the hashtag #Vitaminsea. After all, even endless scrolling through the channels of social networks resembles a flowing surface - thousands of images and lives, merging into a stream, heading somewhere to the longed-for sea.
